Livingstone Fluoride/Oxalate is utilised for glucose testing. The tubes are made of plastic and have a grey cap to identify them. As glucose is metabolised by blood cells, glucose levels in unpreserved blood samples drop rapidly after collection. The fluoride/oxalate additives in the tubes inhibit enzymatic activity in the glycolytic pathway.
